The City’s Comedy Conservatory offers outstanding improv comedy classes for everyone from the absolute beginner to the seasoned pro.

Whether you’re looking to develop a new skill, perfect your craft or just meet some new friends and have a great time, The City is a great place to study improv comedy.

The City’s Comedy Conservatory is broken up into six, eight-week classes. Classes start with the absolute basics and build on previous lessons to transform students into masters of improv comedy.

The City also offers additional Master Classes for those with previous improv experience.

All City Students receive student I.D. cards which get them into all City improv shows as well as all Broadway Comedy Club shows for free as well as get them discounts on food and drink at the club. Students will also qualify to be placed on house teams which perform at The City on a regular basis.

The City Conservatory Director: Aaron Haber The City’s Founder Aaron Haber has a 15-year track record of teaching improv in Chicago and New York. In Chicago he trained with legendary improv guru, Del Close, who had a profound affect on his performance style and improv theories. Aaron has also been seen on Comedy Central, Comedy Net and the big and small screen.

Aaron has fashioned The City’s Comedy Conservatory to be a challenging yet achievable improv training program. It is Aaron’s firm belief that anyone can learn to improvise and excel at Improv comedy.

The Ground Floor – Level 1 Improv Class
If you’re new to improv there’s no better place to start than The City’s Ground Floor improv comedy class. You’ll learn all the basics of improv to get you up and performing in no time. Each class offers substantial stage time for each student and students are invited to work out their new skills at The City’s weekly improv jam at The Broadway Comedy Club.

Master Scene Study Class/Performance Class - Clocked
Already have a bunch of improv experience? Want to sharpen your skills and build your brain into a lean, mean improv machine? Clocked is for you! Clocked tests your improv skills with 20 minutes of 30-second scenes followed by 10 minutes of 10-second scenes. The result is a furiously paced improv performance that doesn’t leave you time to think. By the end of your clocked training normal long form improv will seem like slow motion.
